Sambalpur Hiteishini started in 1889 with the patronage of King Sudhal Deb of Bamanda who took a strong interest in the newspaper. Edited by Nilamani Bidyaratna, it carried news of the region – Bamanda and other princely states around Sambalpur – along with general news of the country and the world.
