Kishori Charan Das, popularly known by his initials K.C. Das, was a renowned Indian author and translator of the languages of Odia and English (born in 1924; passed away on August 17, 2004). He is renowned for his masterful representation of middle-class choices, disillusionment, and insecurities in Odia. His tales do not engage in moralising or message-delivery; rather, they highlight the facts of ordinary life. In 1976, he won the Sahitya Akademi Prize for his collection of short stories, Thakura Ghara. Moreover, he received the Bishuva Puraskar in 1992 and the Sarala Puraskar in 1985.
