Nor has he had the advantage of any assistant but his pundit, When he first began the study of the language, in commion with most others, he began to compile a Dictionary ; but at the end of several years found it was nothing worth, and scattered it to the winds.The fact is, he felt that without better Native assistance than he had been hitherto able to procure, it was impossible to furnish any thing better than an imperfect Oriya version of a Bangili Dictionary. He however began again by ma could obtain them. Iu this manuer the basis of the two last Volumes was laid,
