The famous Bidagdha Chintamani kabya was written by Odia poet Abhimanyu Samanta Singhara, who was born in Balia, Jajpur, in the 18th century. In the 18th century, Abhimanyu was a significant musician-poet in the tradition of Odissi music, writing mostly in the Chhnda style. Additionally, he is the author of several Odia folk songs, including Bagha Gita (a tiger song) and Chadhei Gita (a bird song). He has composed a lot of poetry on Radha and Krishna’s romance.
On February 23, 1760, he was born in Balia Village, Jajpur. Balia Village is located next to the well-known Jajpur Buddhist site Ratnagiri Mahavihara. He had written his first poem at the age of 9.
