Chanakya was a polymath from ancient India who worked as a scholar, writer, strategist, philosopher, economist, lawyer, and royal counsellor. He is typically referred to as Kauilya or Vishnugupta, and he is said to have written the Arthashastra, an ancient Indian political treatise, somewhere between the fourth century BCE and the third century CE. He is regarded as the founder of political science and economics in India as a result, and his work is regarded as a crucial forerunner to classical economics.His writings were misplaced in the sixth century CE, during the end of the Gupta Empire, and weren’t found again until the early twentieth century. Chanakya is largely recognised for helping the first Mauryan ruler Chandragupta ascend to power in the vicinity of 321 BCE.Chanakya assisted the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta in his rise to power and is widely credited for having played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire. Chanakya served as the chief advisor to both emperors Chandragupta and his son Bindusara.
