Odisha’s Danda Nata is a ceremonial celebration. The Chaitra Purnima is when it starts, and it lasts till Pana Sankranti (Vishuva Sankranti) day. The two most auspicious months for worshipping Lord Shiva are Chaitra and Baisakh. On the sixth day of the Meena Month, which occurs in the months of March and April, Lord Shiva’s rituals are invoked. There are several preliminary preparations undertaken for the performances for the first six days before they begin. The Jhamu Jatra then occurs on the eighth day, leaving the remaining thirteen days of the month alone for the Danda Jatra.
