On May 13, 1916, Sachidananda Routray was born in Gurujang, close to Khurda. He authored in Odia and was an Indian poet, novelist, and short story writer. In 1986, he was given the Jnanpith Prize, India’s top literary honour. He was also referred to as Sachi Routray, a revolutionary poet, or Biplabi Kabi.
He went under the name Sachi Routray. Bengal is where he was born, raised, and educated. Routray began producing poetry when he was eleven years old. While still in school, he participated in the war for freedom. Due to their revolutionary tone, some of his poetry were outlawed by the British Raj. He passed away on August 21, 2004, in Cuttack.
1962 saw Padmashree. Kabita-1962 received a Sahitya Akademi Prize in 1963 for poetry. 1965 Soviet Land Nehru Award. 1986 Jnanpith Award. 1988 ” Mahakabi ” Samman, 1986 Rourkela, 1988 Cuttack President of time fellowship (kendra sahitya academi): Nikhil Bharat Rourkela (1968), Kolkata (1968), Kabita Sammelan (1988) 1997 Sahitya Bharati Award.
