Hirakhanda was published from Sambalpur in 1919 and edited by Swapneswara Dash. First it was a weekly and then became a monthly. History, culture and social affairs of the Sambalpur region was the main focus of the publication. Its first volume began with Gangadhar Meher’s poem ‘Hirakhanda Janma’.
