A biography titled “Radhanatha Jibani” was released by Durga Charana Ray in 1941.In the latter half of the nineteenth century, Radhanath Ray was an early modernist poet who wrote in the Odia language. He was given birth to into a zamindar family in Baleshwar (then Bengal Presidency), which is now in Odisha, and is known as Kabibara in Odia literature. In his early years, he wrote in both Bengali and Odia, but eventually switched to write only in Odia. In the Baleswar district of Odisha’s Kedarpur village, he was born on September 28th, 1848. He has written poetry and verse for nineteenth-century Odia literature.

Despite the rich and distinctive literary legacy and history of mediaeval Odia literature, some Bengali educationalists desired to ban Odia language instruction in schools. Since Bengal was ruled by the British long before Odisha, Bengalis had the opportunity to encourage Anglicist scholars to support Odia’s claim to be a subset of Bengali. But John Beams, a British officer of the East India Company, initially attempted to demonstrate that Odia was a more ancient language than Bengali and that it had a more extensive body of literature than Bengali did. There were just seven Odia School teachers in the Odisha division; Bengalis made up the bulk of instructors everywhere, including in the outlying districts. As a result, Odia students were required to use Bengali textbooks. In that moment, Radhanath was one of prime figure along with Fakir Mohan Senapati, who fought against the expansionism of Bengali educationalist to eradicate Odia language from Odisha. He was the Inspector of Odisha Schools Association and along with Fakir Mohan Senapati and Madhusudan Rao, he tried to promote text book writings.
