Sri Purusotam Mahatmyam is an Odia poem compiled by Chaitanya Charan Das and was first published in 1982. This literary work focuses on the glorification of Lord Jagannath, the beloved deity of millions of devotees in the Indian state of Odisha.

The poem consists of sloks (verses) that beautifully depict the divine nature and characteristics of Lord Jagannath. It highlights his significance in Hindu mythology and explores various aspects of his essence, including his omnipresence, omniscience, and omnipotence.

The author, Chaitanya Charan Das, skillfully weaves together words to create a captivating narrative that transports readers into the realm of spirituality and devotion. Each verse is carefully crafted to evoke a feeling of reverence and awe for Lord Jagannath.

Throughout the poem, Das also provides insightful essays and annotations, offering a deeper understanding of the subject matter. These informative sections shed light on the various rituals, traditions, and historical aspects associated with Lord Jagannath and the celebrated Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha.

The first edition of “Sri Purusotam Mahatmyam” was well-received and recognized for its literary excellence. Since its initial publication in 1982, two subsequent editions have been released, one in 1993 and another in 2e (presumably a later edition).

This odia poem holds immense cultural and religious significance for the people of Odisha and individuals with a deep-rooted devotion to Lord Jagannath. It serves as a reminder of the deity’s benevolence, wisdom, and role as the preserver and protector of the universe.

“Sri Purusotam Mahatmyam” is a timeless piece of literature that continues to inspire and captivate readers with its profound verses and insightful commentary on Lord Jagannath and his divine grandeur.
