Gopinath Mohanty was born on April 20, 1914, in Nagabali, Cuttack. He had a stellar academic career and a master’s in English literature. In 1938, he enlisted in the Orissa Administrative Service, and he left the organisation in 1969. He had intimate interactions with the tribal people (particularly the “Kondh” and “Paraja”) during his early tenure as an administrator in the Koraput District and had a keen interest in their languages and way of life. His most important artistic creations at this period focus on tribal culture and society. It is incredible that Gopinath wrote a work of fiction in the genre of “PARAJA” when he was just twenty-nine years old, and that four years later, he produced his famous novel, “AMRUTARA SANTANA.” His grave
