He left the Service at the height of his career to devote full time to writing and research
He has done paintings, acted on stage and in films, and taken active part in social and cultural movements, and has been closely associated with the Children’s Film Society, National School of Drama, and the Poetry Society (India).He has been honoured with many awards including the Sahitya Akademi award and the Saraswati Samman by KK.
