The mysticism, melody, and colloquialism of Bhima Bhoi’s language made it approachable by average people. He stopped using Sanskritized Odia and started speaking in common speech. His poetry has traces of the Sambalpuri dialect of western Odisha. As a result, his poems have the “spoken sung” feel that bhakti poetry is known for. The internal and final rhyme patterns, rhythm, and lyricism of Bhima Bhoi’s lines add to the poetry’s beauty. The poetry of Bhima Bhoi was first created verbally, occasionally spontaneously, and was subsequently recorded in writing by scribes. This trait, which is shared by other bhakti poets, emphasises the movement’s oral past.

A well-known poet, composer, and vocalist was Bhima Bhoi. His poetry was primarily concerned with humanity and the freedom of the planet under the Mahima Dharma ideology. His proclamation “mo jeevana pachhe narke padithau, jagata uddhara heu” (let my life rot in naraka if necessary, but let the world be redeemed) demonstrates his commitment to the upliftment of the socially disadvantaged while serving as an accurate depiction of the socioeconomic situation in the State at the time. Only roughly twelve of the more than one hundred poetry volumes that Bhima Bhoi wrote are now in print. More poems by the poet are being sought after. His significant writings include the Bhajanamala, Astaka Bihari Gita, Chautisa Madhu Chakra, and Brahma Nirupana Gita. Atha, two collections.
