My English poetry is hardly six years old, though have been writing poems in Oriya, over the past many years,in pauses and bursts between the writing of fiction. I wonder if in taking to verse I have felt merely the need of a change of pace and rhythm. Possibly I have increasingly found my fiction, dealing as it does with the lives of ‘other people’deficient in telling the story of my own inconsistent yet fascinating reactions to the varied stimulii of daily living. My poems are thus lyrical expressions more than sutstained commentaries on the world. I am happy with a sense of release and shall be happier to share with my readers some of the
    intensities of the moment.
