Dr. Monica Das is a fellow at the Developing Countries Research Centre at the University of Delhi in India as well as an associate professor of economics at Gargi College. She is passionate about feminist economics. She belongs to the Washington, DC-based IAFFE. She is the author of the edited volumes Her Story So Far: Tales of the Girl Child in India and The Other Woman, which raises awareness of the socioeconomic effects of child marriage, bigamy, and polygamy on the Human Development Index and Gender-related Development Index. She is an Oriya author by the name of Fakir Mohan Senapati’s great-granddaughter.Recently, she received a commission from IDEA, a Swedish intergovernmental organisation of the European Union. Her research article examines “The EU’s Contribution to Women’s Rights and Women’s Inclusion: Aspects of Democracy Building in South Asia, with special reference to India”.
