One of the most well-known Odia authors of the early 20th century is Kanhu Charan Mohanty. His contributions will have an impact on future generations. His writing on important issues has significant weight since it speaks for many people who were not heard. Being from an elite caste, he emphasised the marginalised in his art and emphasised issues about growing inequality and differences in society. He was destined to have a significant impact and steer the direction of Odia literature when he was born on August 11th, 1906, in the Cuttack town of Nagabali. He published his debut novel, Utshabe Bysane, in 1923–1924. Mohanty published 56 books over the course of his six-decade literary career, which spanned 1930–1985.

An Odia family welcomed Kanhu Charan Mohanty into the world on August 6, 1906, in the Nagabali village of Cuttack, India.He is Gopinath Mohanty’s older brother, an Odia novelist who was also a Jnanpith Award winner.He graduated from high school in Cuttack and enrolled in an engineering institution, which he was ultimately forced to leave because of financial constraints. Later, in 1929, he received his diploma from Ravenshaw College. In the government service, Mohanty began as a clerk and left as a senior administrative officer in 1964. On April 6, 1994, Mohanty passed away at the age of 87.
