In Hinduism, Savitri and Satyavan are a mythical couple. Princess Savitri weds Satyavan, an exiled prince who is foretold to pass away young. She convinces the god of death, Yama, to give her husband back his life in order to rescue him.

the lovely daughter of Madra Desa King Aswapati. She decided to marry Satyavan, a prince in exile who resided in the woods with his blind father Dyumatsen. She fled the palace and moved into a cabin in the woods with her husband and in-laws. She went above and above as a loving wife and daughter-in-law to care for them. Satyavan’s head spun one day when he was cutting wood in the bush, and he fell from the tree. Then Yama, the god of death, showed in and snatched Satyavan’s soul away. Savitri begged Yamraj not to separate her from her spouse after being deeply injured. If anything, she would follow him and he would steal her husband’s soul .Yamraj, moved by the devotion of Savitri, returned the life of her husband. Soon Satyavan regained his lost kingdom. All Hindu women observe this festival by worshiping and propitiating Savitri as a Devi.
