The famous Bidagdha Chintamani kabya was written by Odia poet Abhimanyu Samanta Singhara, who was born in Balia, Jajpur, in the 18th century. In the 18th century, Abhimanyu was a significant musician-poet in the tradition of Odissi music, writing mostly in the Chhnda style. Additionally, he is the author of several Odia folk songs, including Bagha Gita (a tiger song) and Chadhei Gita (a bird song). He has composed a lot of poetry on Radha and Krishna’s romance.

On February 23, 1760, he was born in Balia Village, Jajpur. Balia Village is located next to the well-known Jajpur Buddhist site Ratnagiri Mahavihara. Indrajita Samanta Singhara, his father, never had a kid. However, it is said that Sadananda Kabisujrya Brahma, a saint, was worshipped in order for Abhimanyu to be born. He had written his first poem at the age of 9.

In his variety of works, Abhimanyu uses a number of ragas, both well-known and less common old ragas from the Odissi music heritage. Several ragas, including Chakrakeli, Chokhi, Chinta Kamodi, Bangalasri, Dhanasri, Rasakulya, Sankarabharana, Kalyana Ahari, Kumbha Kamodi, Bibhasa, Kedara Kamodi, Ahari, Bhairaba, Gouri, Ramakeri, Kali, Ghantaraba, Kalyana, Kanada, Kamodi, Baradi, Malaba, Sind Abhimanyu excels notably in the use of jugma-ragas, complex ragas created by the fusion of two or more simpler ragas, in the traditional music of Odisha.
