This volume contains twelve short stories of Kisho-“haran Das, a leading Oriya.story writer, who has adequate’v established his credentials among the contemporary Indian authors in the field. The stories included here are largely socio-centric and deal with the working of the human mind in inter-personal Situations. To this extent this volume is Tepresentative of a large body of his short stories, written over twenty-five years, though the entire variety is not Present. Regarding the theme of his stories,the author says, “I may apologise for my class-origins: urban, middle-class and intellectual. For the stories, alas,are apt to reveal this fact. The best I could do was to remember Sartre and avoid committing ‘bad faith’ with my readers,”
