Bhagirathi Nepak was a renowned author and recipient of an Odisha Sahitya Akademi award who specialised in the study of Mahima Dharma and Bhima Bhoi. At Binika in the Sonepur District, he was born to the late Sadananda Nepak and the late Shreemati Devi. However, his family later relocated to the Subarnapur district’s Lachhipur village.
He joined the Government of Odisha as an auditor after earning his philosophy degree from Gangadhar Meher College in Sambalpur.During his time in school, he began using the “Kau O Koili” for his writing. Later, he wrote numerous books, including novels, short stories, poetry, and research books. More than 229 of his works—including 34 novels, three poetry collections, numerous biographies, works for children, and short plays—have been published to date. For popularising Satya Mahima Dharma, he is remembered.
